CHOOSING THE PRESENT WORLD

2 Timothy 4:10

For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

This was the case of Demas.  I am trying to compare the world during the time of Demas with our present world.  I am startled because the world then compared to our world now ay napakalaki siguro ng difference.

Love for God vs. Love for this World.  It's always been the case.

EVANGELISM:

Amen.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH: Acts 2:41

  1. Acts 2:42 – faithful bible study both publicly and privately
  2. Acts 2:42 – faithful attendance (continued daily in apostles doctrines and fellowship). Heb. 10:25 – God’s people must assemble every time the assembly assembles.
  3. Acts 2:42 – sanctification (as they observed the LORD’s supper… as they examine their hearts in the light of the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ.) – we are to walk in personal holiness.
  4. Acts 2:42 – Prayer.  Public prayer.  The prayer meeting.  The Church is to be a house of prayer.  Every believer have to be a part of the prayer ministry of the church.  Matthew 18 – the place of the power of God in heaven through prayer God’s people agreeing together.  Heaven’s power is released through the prayer ministry of the Church.
  5. Acts 2:43 – Work.  Apostolic gifts being manifested by the Apostles.  We have grace gifts that should be exercised.
  6. Acts 2:44-45 – Giving.  Sharing of the material means.  Suppling and giving of what they have to further the cause of Jesus Christ.
  7. Acts 2:46 – Unity.  We are to maintain the unity of the body.
  8. Acts 2:47 – Soulwinning.  Acts 8 – great persecution of the church.  Membership was scattered.  Result is found in Acts 8:4.  Every member preached the word.  Every member has the responsibility to be a witness of the Lord Jesus Christ.

WHY SHOULD A CHRISTIAN BE A CHURCH MEMBER?

Noon ay walang option kung ano at saang church ka aanib because there was only one kind of New Testament Church.

So why should a Christian be a Church member?

1.  The New Testament encourages it.  Acts 2:41, 47

2.  The very nature of the Church demands it.  The local Church is the expression of the body of Christ.  Each Church is a body.  Each Church is a temple of God.  Each Church is a bride of Christ.  Therefore to neglect the Church is to be in disobedience to the Holy Spirit.  If we neglect the Church we neglect the one that Christ loved and gave Himself for.  We cannot say we love Jesus Christ but not love His Church.  That is inconsistency.

3.  The believers need the Church.  The Church is the home for spiritual race. You cannot be born physically without a physical home.  The home is the institution where the physical race is propagated.  You cannot be born again and be not in the Church.  The Church is the spiritual home for the spiritual race.  We need the church just as an orphan needs a home.

4.  The Church is spoken of as a flock.  Christ is the Shepherd.  A sheep that is not in the flock is a sheep gone astray.  The sheep needs the shepherd's care -- the shepherding ministry of a Pastor.

5.  The mission of the church necessitates Church membership.  The Church is the reciprocal of the truth in this age.  It is the instrument that God has ordained to preach the Gospel.  We are not in one with God in this mission if we are not members and serving in the Church as members.

6.  Acts 2:41-47 -- Skeleton Patter = Believing - Baptizing - Belonging

LIFE ACCORDING TO MATHEMATICIANS

Mathematicians say LIFE is like a line segment drawn from point B to point D.

What is point B to point D?

It's from point of Birth(B) to point of Death(D).

So life starts from the moment we are Born(B) until the day we Die(D).

But in the middle of B(Birth) and D(Death) is a mysterious C.

What is C then? It is CHRIST.

If we put Christ in the middle of our life(Birth--->Christ--->Death) our life will not end at D but extend to E.

What is E? It's Eternal Life.

So all those who put Christ in the middle of their life have Eternal life after Death

But those who do not put Christ in the middle of their lives don't have Eternal life after Death but they have F(Fire).

Therefore the mathematical Equation or Definition of Life For Christians is

B   +   C   +    D       =   E

Birth+Christ+Death= Eternal Life

And the mathematical Equation or Definition Of Life For Unbelievers:

(B   -  C ) + D      =   F

Birth - Christ + Death =   Fire

Any one that avoids C must surely lose E
